Acetone

Propanone

Acetone is a good solvent for many plastics and some synthetic fibers. It is used for thinning polyester resin, cleaning tools, and dissolving some epoxies. It is added as a component of some paints and varnishes. It is also used as a heavy-duty degreaser, and for preparation of metal for painting. Acetone is also used in soldering applications to remove rosin flux.
